Cubs
The 12th South West Cheshire (1st Shavington) Cub Pack meets every Monday evening in our Scout HQ in Main Road, Shavington, from 6.30 to 8.00 pm. During the Summer months we often hold our evening meetings at Milldale, the District Scout Campsite, which is not far from our HQ.
At present the pack has 17 boys and one girl, but this number changes frequently as older members go on to Scouts, younger ones move up from Beavers and others join the pack. The pack is divided into Sixes (three at present) and older Cubs are appointed as Sixers and Seconders and earn their Leadership badges.
The Pack currently has four leaders, Bagheera, Baloo, Chil and Raksha - all named after Jungle Book characters.
As part of being a Cub, pack members work towards their Awards and Badges most Monday evenings. Pack meetings also involve Inspections and Games with points being awarded to the Sixes and every week "Best Six" trophies are awarded. Recently, the Cubs completed their Emergency Aid (stage 1) badge.
The Pack takes part in South West Cheshire District activities; during the last 12 months this included the swimming gala, craft competition and a Cub camp at Milldale. This year we will be taking part in a District camp with a medieval theme involving Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.
We also hold one and two night camps along with the other sections in our Group - last year we visited Queen Charlotte's Wood Camp near Frodsham in May and Drum Hill camp near Derby in December.
